HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Whether you celebrate Halloween or not, I hope you have a great day today! I’ll be trick-or-treating tonight with a friend, and I’m obviously hoping for the treats and not the tricks. I’m not a fan of being scared at all.

Have you ever been to the mall on Halloween? Oh my goodness. I just got back from our mall and wow was it crazy there. SO many people (kids and adults) were dressed up. I was surprised so many people do that, but I guess it’s a safer place for some kids than their own neighborhoods. *sigh* that’s a sad thought. I’m glad there’s a place that they can go, though.

I want to put up a little pumpkin poem/analogy, and I hope you enjoy it. Just so you know, I didn’t write it…but hopefully it will make you think.

Being a Christian is a lot like being a Pumpkin.
God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
Then, He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc…
And then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see!

It’s that cute? It’s so true, too. Halloween isn’t a “holiday” that everyone celebrates, I know. I, personally, don’t celebrate it. Instead, I go out and have fun. I go around my neighborhood and get candy. Then I come home and hand out candy to those who stop by. It’s not about goblins or ghosts to me. It’s just a day to get a bunch of free candy. And we all know that I love candy. It’s a downfall, I know. :) So whether you celebrate Halloween, do nothing for Halloween, or just go out to have fun and get some free candy, please spend some time today thinking about the word Halloween.

Don’t let today be hallow. Or tomorrow, for that matter. He came to give us life to the fullest. For that reason, no day should be hallow. We should live every day to the fullest, as I believe He wants and calls us to do. Live today to the fullest. If that means taking a chance and stepping out in faith, do it. If that means calling someone and making something right, do it. If that simply means smiling and saying thank you to everyone while trick-or-treating tonight, do it. Just live life to the fullest today. And then get up tomorrow and do it all over again.

Well, ahem, don’t go trick-or-treating again tomorrow. But you know what I mean. :)

Happy Halloween 2009!
