For lack of a better name, I’m going to be calling this whole shindig Sunday Song. You know, instead of Sunday School. And because it’s Sunday. And because it’s a song. And because I have no other idea for what to call these posts every weekend. If you have ideas, let me know!!!
By the way, this is not to make up for not going to Sunday School, by any means! Ha! I don’t have tons of spiritual knowledge and I highly encourage you to get connected to a church near you. On the other hand, I do hope that, in some way, big or small, these song posts will lead you closer to God. With that said, this weeks song is
Sing, Sing, Sing by Chris Tomlin
We will sing, sing, sing
And make music with the heavens
We will sing, sing, sing
Grateful that You hear us
When we shout your praise
Lift high the name of Jesus
What’s not to love about You?
Heaven and earth adore You
Kings and kingdoms bow down
Son of God, You are the One
You are the One we’re living for
You are the love that frees us
You are the light that leads us
Like a fire burning
Son of God, You are the one
You are the one we’re living for
I have loved this song for quite some time. It’s one of the few songs that makes me want to get up and dance (like a crazy person) almost every single time I hear it. I don’t just burst out into random dance, mind you. But I have to this song multiple times. It’s such a great release, and so much fun to let loose and worship him through dance and song. Especially a song like this.
Now that you have a little background, let’s get into the lyrics.
I love singing, and the idea of singing with the heavens is so cool to me. Probably because the sky is basically my favorite part of creation. And, side note, the sky was AMAZING today.
I’m definitely grateful that He hears me and hears you. The idea that the God of the universe not only takes the time to hear us, but also WANTS to hear our thoughts, passions, dreams, hopes, and desires…well that’s just beyond amazing.
As for the last line of the chorus, I want to make sure His name is lifted high. Don’t you?! :)
“What’s not to love about You?” Ahh…such a good line. What is there about Him that I don’t love? Nothing that I can think of. Can you think of anything? Because when I think of Him, I think of His faithfulness, love, compassion, understanding, nearness, and many other things.
As for the line that says, “You are the One we’re living for”…I want that to be true of me. I want to live only for Him. I don’t want to live for myself or others. Just Him. In fact, there’s a verse about this in the Bible that talks about dying to yourself and living for Christ. I want that to be me. I want to be described as the girl who lived her life for God. I want to be that one girl.
