Hero by Kirk Franklin

The heavens were silent
The earth weeped in pain
Nations were trembling and hope never came
A Terror filled the air
And it wouldn’t go away
We needed a hero to come and save

Famine and hunger,
Disease in the land
The hatred the killing taking lives from your hand
Creation waits through the darkness we pray
Tell me where is the hero to come and save

Through the nails
Through the thorns
From the hill to the grave
Was a voice in the distance the lamb that was slain
My soul had no song and my debt I couldn’t pay
When I needed a hero you came and you saved

To the homeless
The widow
The fatherless son
To the sick and the broken alone with no one
Lift up you head your hope is on the way
When we needed a hero you came and you saved the day

When the curtain had closed
And it felt like the end
When your blood caught the fall and took away every sin
Even though men deny
You’re the only sacrifice
That loved us enough you loved us so much Lord
That you gave your life see you saved my life

Now I can see you I’m no longer ashamed
Your power I feel see our lives have exchanged
Every wrong is erased, Jesus
You are my hero you came and you saved the day

When the curtain had closed
And it felt like the end
When your blood caught the fall and took away every sin
Even though men deny
You’re the only sacrifice
That loved us enough you love us so much Lord
That you gave your life see you saved my life

Now I can see you I’m no longer ashamed
Your power I feel see our lives have exchanged
Every wrong is erased, Jesus
You are my hero you came and you saved [x2]
You are my hero you came and saved The day

You saved you saved the day [repeat]

You are my hero you came and you saved the day

The heavens were silent

Nations were trembling and hope never came
A Terror filled the air

We needed a hero to come and save

Isn’t that a picture to think about? The earth weeping for Him. We needed a Hero before we ever knew it. The earth was crying for a Hero. Wow…

Famine and hunger,
Disease in the land
The hatred the killing taking lives from your hand
Creation waits through the darkness we pray
Tell me where is the hero to come and save

Through the nails
Through the thorns
From the hill to the grave
Was a voice in the distance the lamb that was slain
My soul had no song and my debt I couldn’t pay
When I needed a hero you came and you saved

I chose this song for a few reasons. First off, I really like the song. Then there’s the fact that my church does an amazing job singing this song. Don’t believe me? Watch this. There’s also the fact that we sang it this morning and well…I just smiled the whole time. Then there’s the little, tiny fact that EASTER is coming up in one week! But the great hope and redemption that surrounds Easter wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for Good Friday and His death on a cross. He was killed for you and me. We literally could not pay the debt we owed, but He came and saved us. This song goes so well with that, and is perfect for this week!

To the homeless
The widow
The fatherless son
To the sick and the broken alone with no one
Lift up you head your hope is on the way
When we needed a hero you came and you saved the day

I really really like this part of the song. It shows that He came for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re Bill Gates or the prodigal son (who wasted everything until the point where he was so hungry pigs’ slop looked yummy) from the Bible…He came for you. He came for me. Silly, it seems…but He came anyway. I was broken with no one, but He lifted my head and told me hope is on the way. It was. HE is Hope. And HE came. I’m still broken, but I have Hope.

When the curtain had closed
And it felt like the end
When your blood caught the fall and took away every sin
Even though men deny
You’re the only sacrifice
That loved us enough you loved us so much Lord
That you gave your life see you saved my life

It will be denied until the end: It’s all a lie, a big scheme that people around the world have fallen for. Sure Jesus was real, but the Messiah? No, that’s not true.

Uhm, actually, IT IS. You may believe differently, but this is my blog and I want you all to know what I believe. He came. He died. He rose again. He lives now. He’s Hope and Faithful and Love and the Redeemer. So men can deny, yes. Go right ahead. But I know what I believe. He loved us enough to come and be our Hero. I’ll take that amazing Love any day.

Now I can see you I’m no longer ashamed
Your power I feel see our lives have exchanged
Every wrong is erased, Jesus
You are my hero you came and you saved the day

Ah thank the Lord every wrong is erased. I have so many that I could never list them all for you. We no longer have to be ashamed, isn’t that amazing?

He’s the ultimate Hero. Think about it. What more could you really want or ask for? I used to think other people were my heroes, but those people turned out to be frauds. He has never been anything but Love, though. And that won’t change, thank the Lord.
