Disquis

Okay I need your thoughts and opinions. For a long time I’ve been considering using Disquis here for my blog. It would allow me to reply right back to your comments. I often want to, but know that without a system (like Disquis), chances are no one would ever see the response.

I want to build community here, and I think a lot of that has to do with the comments section. I’ve seen Disquis used on many blogs, and have liked it a lot.

However, I’ve also heard so many negative things about it. Times where it doesn’t work, or that you have to enter in new information each time you want to leave a comment. I’m also afraid it would delete all my ‘pre-Disquis’ comments.

So what do you think? Is it worth a shot? Do you like Disquis? What would you suggest? I’m at a bit of a loss here.

Maggy – so it will send me an email each time I get a comment on any post? do you know if it will delete comments from posts I wrote before having Disquis?

Amanda – Blogger sends comment emails? I had no idea.

I love Disquis!! And to my knowledge, I’ve never really had any problems with it. I love that it makes comments more like a conversation between my readers and I. As far as I know, as long as when they comment they have the box checked (it’s the default), when you reply to their comment, they should get an e-mail.

I’ve never heard of it? Sounds interesting though! I Would love something like that.

I usually just reply back to people through the email that blogger sends me, but the problem with that is people either don’t have their email reply set up..or don’t know how to do it. If it’s something I really want to reply on, I will just go to their website and reply through their blog…but sometimes I don’t have the time and I just leave it alone..which I hate.

I’ll check back for response I hear. I may not be patient enough to wait it out :) In that case, I will let you know what I think about it!

I like Disqus! It sends an email and you can have more of a conversation with people in the comments section.
