This secret has been nearly two years in the making, but today I finally get to share the news!
In the fall of 2016, I was invited to contribute to the Bible. Yes, the Bible. And I’ll be straight-up honest with you… I thought and prayed about it for a while. I believe that we aren’t to take away from or add to Scripture, that it is the Word of God. But the more I learned about this new LifeWay project, the more excited I became.
The short version of the story is this: I said yes. And then I wrote multiple devotions that are included alongside Scripture, written and designed and printed in a way that keeps our focus on the Word while providing a devotional within the pages.
I love the heart behind this Bible and am honored to be a contributor, but more than anything I’m expectant and excited to see women begin to use this beautiful Bible in their daily lives. Trust me, this is a Bible that you’ll keep open on your desk, kitchen counter, or nightstand. There is community built-in among the pages, over 225,000 words from women pointing back to the Author of each of our stories.
I’m giving away one of the Devotional Bibles on Instagram today. (Heads up: I shared several videos of the interior of the Bible in my Instagram Stories, and there’s a 100% chance I teared up) At the bottom of this post, I’ll include a link to the Instagram post so you can easily click over and enter!
First, can I tell you my favorite features of the Devotional Bibles? You can view all of the features (as well as videos from contributors) here, but these are my personal favorites:
- Cover options (there are four, and each one is truly beautiful and amazing quality)
- 312 devotions from 122 diverse women (including 52 long-form reflective devotions, one for each week of the year)
- Lined journaling space on each page
- Book introductions (each one focuses on the context of the book, how it fits into the story of the Bible, and how it connects to our daily lives)
- Women of Courage (there are “call out” sections throughout, highlighting fifty of the women in the Bible)
One of these women is the Samaritan Woman that Jesus meets at the well. I had the joy and honor of writing about this encounter in John 4. If you followed me on Instagram back in January of 2017, you prayed for these words without knowing it. There was a holy weight as I wrote, and you shouldered it with me. Thank you. (If you like behind-the-scenes details: #11 on this list is from that moment of asking for prayer, a picture of where my long-form devotion was written.)
I’ve included links and current sale prices for all of the Bibles below (the interior is the same, but the covers differ). Currently, each one is cheaper on Amazon. However, until October 31st, DaySpring will include (a $20 value) with every Bible purchase. If you’re already planning ahead for birthdays or Christmas, I think this would be a meaningful gift – especially with the leather journal included for free.
Gray Hardcover | DaySpring ($27.99) | Amazon ($23.65)
Blue LeatherTouch | DaySpring ($39.99) | Amazon ($33.06)
Green Cloth Over Board | DaySpring ($39.99) | Amazon ($33.06)
Navy Genuine Leather pictured with the free journal | DaySpring ( $71.99) | Amazon ($58.13)
I cannot say enough about this Bible, and my prayer is that each woman who holds a copy in her hands will encounter the Author of it all within the pages of the ultimate Story.
