The words, the videos, and the images that have been running through my mind on repeat over the past few weeks.
Take a moment. Just breathe.
Because your story matters more than your stats // Lisa-Jo Baker
“So you can just let it go – the need for someone else to tell you that your story is important. Because you are already stitched into the only story that matters; the story that starts in the dark, loamy dirt of a garden and ends in the hard won, bright, shining streets of a city on a hill.”
When Loving God’s People Hurts // Leigh Powers on (in)courage
“We are part of this kingdom story, and our hurt should not stop us from loving well. Satan can’t stand against a united church. That’s why he tries so hard to destroy it.”
Favorite pin of the week.
Here’s the story I’ll tell my friends when they come to worship, and punctuate it with Hallelujahs: Shout Hallelujah, you God-worshipers; give glory, you sons of Jacob; adore him, you daughters of Israel. He has never let you down, never looked the other way when you were being kicked around. He has never wandered off to do his own thing; he has been right there, listening. Psalm 22:22-31 (MSG)
Dear Women & Daughters: When You’re Tired of Media Voices Telling You What Beauty & Love Is // Ann Voskamp
“The world has enough women who live a masked insecurity. It needs more women who live a brave vulnerability. We need more women who would rather be beautifully sacrificial than perfectly artificial.”
What To Do When Compliments Scare You // Jennifer Dukes Lee for (in)courage
“I am learning that true humility doesn’t mean we wave off kind words. It doesn’t mean we apologize for who we are. Gospel humility doesn’t mean that we unleash a litany of our shortcomings in response to a praise. True humility is genuine “thanks,” delivered with grace.”
Instagram of the week from around here.
Four years ago today the news of a brain tumor rocked my world. God, however, did not move one inch. He gave me the promise of this verse and these lyrics to hold tight to. He is good no matter what because He is our God.
Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God You are higher than any other. Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God.
For The Girls With Thighs That Touch // Post of the week from around here.
“We have got beauty all wrong, all upside down and inside out. And that’s the problem. Beauty is inside out and we’re looking outside in.
Every inch of skin is yours and it is lovely. Wear the bathing suit and choose to whisper three different words: This is beautiful.”
May your day be filled with peace, may you carve out time to sit and still, to breathe and be. And may you pause to remember it is only Wednesday and Hope is worth hanging onto.
