*Quick thing before the real post: I leave tomorrow morning for Miami. While there, we’ll find out whether I have cancer or not. I’m choosing to believe that I do not. I’m almost certain that God has healed me. If He hasn’t, then okay, we’ll go from there. But I personally believe that I am totally cancer free. Also, tomorrow I will be getting my stitches out. Ouch. Oh well…after that I can put it all behind me. Literally. :D*
Welcome to Sunday Song!
This is my attempt to post regularly every Sunday about a song I love. The key word is attempt.
I post the lyrics and then post them again (because I’m redundant-which you already know, if you frequently visit here)…but the second time I include my thoughts. There’s also a video of the song that you can play while reading the post.
Lifesong by Casting Crowns
Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight
May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to you
Chorus:
Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign your name
To the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You
Lord, I give my life
A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet
So may the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You
Chorus
Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Let my lifesong sing to You (x3)
Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight
May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to you
I love worshipping Him and just letting it all go. Trying to bring a smile to His face, after all He’s done for me, seems like such a small thing. But I love to try to make Him smile anyways. When I live my life for Him, I trust that I’m making Him smile. I want my words AND my actions to make Him happy.
The thing is, if it’s all talk and no actions then I’m talking in vain. I’m being hypocritical. I don’t want to be that sort of person. I want my LIFE to sing to Him, not just my words.
Chorus:
Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign your name
To the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You
Lord, I give my life
A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be Your hands and feet
Whatever happens to me, I want God to receive all the glory and praise. I want my Story to reach people for Him. Maybe my brain tumor story will impact people that otherwise wouldn’t have heard about Jesus. I don’t know. It’s just a thought. But if that’s the case, it was way more than worth it. Whether I have cancer or not, I want my life to be a sacrifice to Him. He already sacrificed it all for me (and you).
So may the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You
Chorus
Hallelujah, Hallelujah,
Let my lifesong sing to You (x3)
Kristi – Yes that song is super great! I love that one.
Erin – Yes I’ve seen them live once or twice. They’re really good live…sound almost the same. Great worship experience.
Andrea – Emailing you again today. :) Thanks!
You are beautiful. In so many ways love! God Bless you! He is holding your hand the way. We serve a mighty God. Remember that!

You picked one of my favorite songs of all times…ever!
Have you ever seen the Crowns live? In a word? amazing.
That first verse gets me every time.
“Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight”
It reminds me that my worship does not mean anything to God if my heart and the way I live is not in line with Him.
Wow.
Thank you for this post and I am praying for your trip to Miami.
Erin
Can you email me your address again…I have a little package sitting here and I seem to have accidentally erased the email I got from you…sorry to hear about all the pain you’re having…praying that tomorrow OUR plans and HIS will match up…
I love this song as well. “Praise you in this Storm” really touched me when I was going through a very difficult time. I love that God blesses each of His children with different spiritual gifts that minister to others. Some with the gift to sing and provide comfort to those who are hurting and crave to hear about His love. I’m so glad you are feeling His comfort around you and leaning on Him for strength. Praying for you!
love love love this song! I’m praying for good results tomorrow!!!!
