This little corner of the Internet began as It Just Takes One. It wasn’t until this summer that I put on my big girls pants and moved to KaitlynBouchillon.com. But back when IJTO began, I would write about reality TV, my favorite music and what Jesus was teaching me. And because I was all about alliterations and thought they were just the coolest, I did this thing called Sunday Song.
Every Sunday I featured one of my favorite songs and then shared what it meant to me/how it challenged me/what it taught me. Verse by verse — and sometimes line by line — I would dig into the words that made up the song.
There’s a piece of me that feels like it was lame, but if we’re being real honest . . . music moves me in a way nothing else does. It puts words to feelings I can’t express and can lead me right back to the feet of Jesus.
During , each Sunday I’ll share with you a scripture and a song that encourages or challenges me as I continue to share my story. I hope it will be a place you can retreat to before another week begins, resting in His truth and worshipping Who He is.
Sunday Song
There’s no way I could begin with anything other than this song. It is one of my favorites and I sing along a little too loudly when it comes on the radio. Francesca has such a talent and writes with such honesty. And she also happens to be the daughter of one of my blogging friends. #coolbyindirectrelation?
“Write Your Story” by Francesca Battistelli
They say
You’re the King of everything
The One who taught the wind to sing
The Source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating
They say
You can give the blind their sight
And You can bring the dead to life
You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I wanna tell You now that I believe it
I do, that You can make me new, oh
I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
My life
I know it’s never really been mine
So do with it whatever You like
I don’t know what Your plan is
But I know it’s good, yeah
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
I wanna tell You now that I believe in
In You, so do what You do, oh
I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write Your story on my heart
Come on and make Your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be Your work of art
Won’t You write Your story on my heart
Write Your story, write Your story
Come on and write Your story, write Your story
I want my history
To be Your legacy
Go ahead and show this world
What You’ve done in me
And when the music fades
I want my life to say
I let You write Your story, write Your story
Write Your story, write Your story
Sunday Scripture
The one sitting on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new!”
He said, “Write this: ‘These words are trustworthy and true.'”
Revelation 21:5
I love this! I love the idea of “Sunday Song.” I, too, am moved by music. I’m one of those people who cry during worship and it isn’t always a pretty cry. I can put on some worship music and get lost quickly. I love it. I love that you’re sharing this part of your heart with us! {I’m also in that phase of fighting against changing my blog to my name, because, well, that makes it much more real and grown up and I just don’t feel like I’m there.}
Changing it to your name is certainly a “big girl” step and sometimes I think I was (am?) just plain crazy. But I don’t think it’s as much about a name as about being faithful where He has called you. And ps if you think of any songs that would work well for October Sunday Songs, just let me know. :)
